Why did Myrcene, Fenchone, Linalool, Caryophyllene and Nerolidol cross the road? – To escape the diabolical Daminozide!
The plant growth retardant, Daminozide, was one of the first developed back in the early nineteen-sixties but has been banned for health concerns by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Honest Paws is in San Juan, Puerto Rico, processing CBD into dog treats.
Honest Paws’ CBD Infused Coconut Oil for dogs contains 697.25 LCS % Rec. Daminozide (Laboratory Control Sample, percentage Recommended). The LCS % Limits is only 30-150. The small print reads, “Above Limit Range.”
Potential health concerns for dogs eating Daminozide include, but are not limited to, tiredness, (hmmm), liver function abnormalities, GI issues, and cancer.
This product does have some beneficial terpenes. (In this review, the terpene levels are demonstrated by *.) Myrcene *** is one of the top ten primary cannabinoid terpenes. Myrcene smells like cloves and offers sedative effects, encourages analgesic responses to pain, and suppresses cell reproduction to aid in cancer treatment. Linalool ** aids anxiety, is an anesthetic, anti-convulsant and analgesic. Caryophyllene *** is anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and protects cells’ lining in the digestive track. Fenchone ***** has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Nerolidol, like myrcene is a sedative and it is the most plentiful at ********************. This terpene information suggests that the terpenes are primarily responsible for the ‘calming’ effect. But the side effect of tiredness from Daminozide could also be responsible.
The extraction method is unknown.
There is no certificate of analysis, COA, on the website. With an email request one was sent the next day. The product’s identity as the Lab Controlled Substance was properly identified and the date was recent. But because there is no ‘batch correlation’ for the consumer, there is no guarantee that the lab report matches the product.
Now look at the COA sent to represent this product.
Daminozide is a manmade growth retardant that stunts the natural, as in ‘All-Natural’ growth of living plants.
The dosage rates share the weight of two weighted dogs, a below 25, and above 25 dosage recommendation.

Keep it local, people. Know your farmer. Know your processor. Know your lab.
It is not wise to use a product without full transparency. Insist on a verifiable full profile COA with any hemp product. Identify the testing lab with a header on the lab work. Do not accept a lab report without identifying language and contact information. Identify that COA with a correlating batch number.
